Fresh Surface Water Monitoring

Follow its evolution on your whole territory

A support tool for sustainable water management. Identify and monitor the level of natural and artificial reserves every week. Help decision-makers addressing drinkable and irrigation water supply issues in order limit the impact of stormy rains, run-off floods, droughts, and manage hydroelectric dams.

Objectives

Follow the evolution of identified water reserve levels. Better overall management of water on the territory, management of drinking water: guaranteeing the supply of cities as a priority, having water stocks and manage the balancing towards different reserves and lakes, guaranteeing autonomy thanks to your own water reserves supervision, limit droughts and floods, manage health crises in case of floods. Global warming having different consequences according to the territories, managing the water cycle becomes strategic for many sectors (industries, agriculture, or any business activity that requires water).
In addition, this service could be extended with a dedicated rain forecasting service and monitoring of snow stocks to anticipate and plan the storage.

Solution

Interactive mapping highlighting locations of each water stain seen by satellites and completed by IoT systems if you request it.
For more efficiency and to be able to follow in detail the evolution of each water reserve, the strategic lakes could be identified previously to obtain the evolution of the water surface each week. The satellite imagery archive allows to analyze this evolution in the past years (more than 5 years now). Each interesting area is displayed with a monthly and yearly analysis. The decision map shows color indicators referring to the different sizes of the water surface, and the specific analyses are available for every surface detected. Values are reported on specific charts supplemented by alerts (integrated system, SMS, e-mails…).
The solution can be configured to address other use case such as water detection next to railways or roads infrastructure to anticipate landslides or even limiting the impact of floods by maintaining retention capacity upstream of watercourses.
